Why is Microsoft skipping Hololens V2? Looks like all the hype around what Apple has planned has made them rethink their next moves. Even though some may think it means internal problems, I think its a great product management move by Microsoft.
At the moment Microsoft is way ahead of the Mixed Reality industry with the only product out for almost a year. The data and feedback they have been getting puts them in a power position. They can just sit back wait to see what apple does well and not so well, then use all of that to launch a groundbreaking V3.
Before the Hololens I couldn’t be caught dead with their products but I am REALLY impressed with the product as you can see here lol.
I am definitely considered by my friends and family an Apple fan boy, so I am excited to see what they do with this technology for sure.
As a person who works within the Augmented, Virtual & Mixed Reality space and the founder of arnews.tv in 2011, I have seen a lot of things that make me think I know where apple will go with the tech. One of the main reasons I feel like I have a better idea then most is my company Mass Ideation was a paying customer of Metaio the Augmented Reality SDK for almost 3 years before Apple bought it and pretty much shut it down.
We were working on so many awesome things with Metaio’s technology when apple purchased them. I can see Apple taking their world class user experience process which in my opinion is superior to any tech company on earth and pushing Mixed reality technology to the masses faster then any other company can.
I was looking forward to the Hololens V2 but I totally understand why Microsoft would keep their power position and upstage Apple with v3.
